Andrea Grant Interview with Omnicomic

January 25th, 2010

Andrea Grant's Minx

Right before the New Year, G4TV aired a special called Women of the Web 2.0. One of those women was Andrea Grant, a phenomenally beautiful and diversely talented young lady who has successfully transcended geekdom with her work ethic. Ms. Grant was kind enough to take time out of her extremely busy schedule to sit down with Omnicomic and talk about MINX, her new webcomic, fasting and juggling multiple interests.

Toro Woman: The Heroine

September 2nd, 2009

Andrea Grant is, in no particular order, a poet, comic book creator, spoken word practitioner, fashion journalist, magazine publisher and businesswoman. I’ve left a few things out, but you get the idea. She’s possessed of what appears to be a somewhat relentless drive to express herself through art, business and journalism. Plus, she’s not too hard on the eyes. In fact, she’s the kind of girl they should turn into a sexy comic heroine. But you know what? She beat them to the punch and did it herself, and had to scrap it out with industry giant DC Comics to keep her vision of Andrea Grant’s MINX intact.

‘Grimm Recollections’ Launches

June 7th, 2009

Red's attraction to strangers

I’m pleased to finally announce the launch of the first of the ‘Grimm Recollections: A Modern Retelling of the Grimm Fairytales’.

The concept was developed by myself and pop-artist Justin Hampton.  Our collaboration is a retelling of classic fairytales with a modern, twisted slant, told in 12 illustrated poems. Each piece consists of 2 limited edition prints per story released simultaneously.

Justin and I met in New York City in September of 2005 at a Neil Gaiman ‘Save CBGB’s’ reading the day after his showing with PNE (Post Neo Explosionism) at the CBGB 313 Gallery. We quickly realized we shared a very similar aesthetic and began scheming a creation to sink our creative teeth into. Our version of the stories are set in modern day New York City and reflect the cultural diversity and tone of the greatest urban landscape in the world while maintaining the essence of the original tales.  The stories are designed in a classic fairytale book format and will read side to side as though turning the pages in a tome that you can walk through.  Presented for your consideration is the first of the series:

‘Red’s attraction to strangers’

A two print set of eight color screen prints on 100 lb acid free paper stock measuring 18″x 24″.  Signed by both creators and numbered in an edition of only 100 copies. Each set comes with a certificate of authenticity.

On sale as of Friday 6/ 5/ 09

$65 for the set (free domestic shipping)

MINX 2.0

April 28th, 2009

Minx 2.0

Exciting news… I am working hard on a new version of Minx.  The story is more streamlined and even more steeped in Native American mythology. I am working with artist Rey Arnezo, who captures my vision perfectly.
